T.C. Debica Supports ÔÇťGolden PuckÔÇŁ Project
T.C. Debica S.A. will help to promote the most talented Debica hockey players
Tire Company Debica S.A. supported the “Golden Puck” Project, organized by the Pupils’ Hockey Club. Already in the past T.C. Debica S.A. provided part financing for the hockey equipment for children and youth who were members of the hockey club.

The “Golden Puck” Project covers pupils attending 4-6 forms of primary schools at Debica and aims at the propagation of physical culture and sports. The project will be held cyclically. The contestants from individual forms will compete against one another in two events: slaloming with the puck against time at a distance of 100 meters and skating around skating rink at a distance of two full loops. The finals are scheduled for April 2015.
The project aims also at teaching fair-play rules and at the same time to select the best hockey players from amongst project participants and assign them to appropriate hockey teams.
„We are happy that we can contribute to sports development and enhance physical fitness of kids from Debica schools. Debica Pupils’ Hockey Club performs wonderful job for the city and the region and that is why we support this club” – said Stanisław Cieszkowski, President of Management Board of Tire Company Debica S.A.
The project is run jointly by the Debica Town Hall, Pupils’ Hockey Club, Urban Sports and Leisure Centre at Debica and Educational Facilities – Debica-based primary schools.
„The underlying idea of the “Golden Puck” is to brush up the idea of a project that existed many years ago and was run for primary schools’ children. This is a cyclical project and will be run each year, from January to April. The overriding objective is to enhance physical activity and to introduce elements of sports rivalry amongst children through skating. Thanks to involvement of City Town Hall, Urban Sports and Leisure Centre at Debica and all primary schools the “Golden Puck” project was relaunched in January this year. It is another project of Debica Pupils’ Hockey Club targeted at Debica schools, which is financial supported by Tire Company Debica” – says Marcin Hadowski, President of Debica Pupils’ Hockey Club.
Passion and determination of two former hockey contestants, viz. Stanislaw Cwik and Wieslaw Ptaszek and interest of local community at led to foundation of Pupils’ Hockey Club back in 1998. The original group of 20 kids at the beginning increased 150 contestants at various age categories. And the number of contestants is still growing.

The first results were already visible after two years of Club’s activities when mini-hockey team won a tournament in Warsaw, whereas Michal Wiktor from Debica was recognised as the best player at the tournament. Since that time the Club has strengthened its position in the Polish hockey through such achievements as: won second place in the Eastern Division of 2nd League in the 2012/13 season, won sixth place in the Central Poland Championships in the Junior League in the 2012/13 season, Vice-Champion of 2nd Ice Hockey League in the 2013/14 season or direct promotion in the eliminations for the National Championships of Younger Juniors in the 2014/15 season. Since the 2013/14 season the Club has played in the senior league, and the senior team is mainly based on the former players of Debica Hockey Club.

For years now Tire Company Debica S.A. has been committed to supporting social and educational activities including also the improvement of road safety. Thanks to TC Debica S.A. all secondary school students at Debica can learn how to provide first aid using specialist equipment provided by the Company for this purpose, so that in a couple of years now most young people at Debica and surroundings know how to provide first aid. Additionally the Company extends its assistance to the sick and disabled, supports talented youth, grants donations for schools, fire brigade, emergency ambulance service and police.
In June 2014 Tire Company Debica S.A. supported already for the forth time the campaign titled “Safe Road to School”, organised by the City Hall at Debica. The campaign was targeted at first formers that started learning at schools in September and aimed at teaching them the rules of safe behaviour on the roads and to make them aware of the threats they may encounter on the road to and back from school. Each new student received a safety kit, which includes but is not limited to high visibility vests, high visibility bag for footwear, warning triangles to be attached on school bags and a colouring book promoting rules of safe behaviour on the road.
