T.C. Debica Amongst Pillars of the Polish Economy
Tire Company Debica S.A. distinguished for its contribution to the development of the Subcarpathian Region
Tire Company Debica S.A. was distinguished in the ranking of key businesses in Poland – “Pillars of the Polish Economy”, prepared by the ”Puls Biznesu” daily and TNS Pentor public opinion poll agency. The ranking is the first in Poland catalogue of major companies, playing a key role in individual provinces, whereas the finalists were designated by the local governments. Distinguished five businesses from the Subcarpathian region similarly to T.C. Debica S.A., are characterized by economic stability and make significant contribution to the regional development both as employers and the entities supporting development of local community.
The ranking was created thanks to local governments that cast their votes on the poll winners in individual provinces. The local governments were requested to select a business being the Pillar of Polish Economy in their region, then to make an assessment of the selected business based on such criteria as employer essential to the region promoting employment, major player of local taxes or entity taking measures in favor of population in the region.
“Tire Company Debica S.A. is a part of the Subcarpathian region since the Central Industrial District foundation in 1930s. In the last almost one hundred years our Company has been dynamically growing – now it is ranked amongst key exporters of the Polish economy and major enterprises in the Central Europe, whereas our manufacturing plant in global terms is one of the most modern plants making tires. With the headcount of almost three thousand workers, the inhabitants of the city of Debica and of the Subcarpathian region we feel responsible for making a contribution to the development of local community. Therefore we are engaged in the assistance for the most needy, we also support culture and education – said Jacek Pryczek, President of the Management Board of Tire Company Debica S.A.
Last year the Company posted a record-high financial performance that achieved through consistent strategy, but also through run investment projects. The Company focuses on the increasing of output of High Performance and Ultra High Performance tires designed for passenger cars travelling at high speeds. By 2013 Tire Company Debica S.A. plans to spend more than PLN 200 million to follow-up the started investment projects that will make it compliant with technical and legal requirements laid down in the EU Labeling Directive. This will enable the Company to maintain a competitive position vis-à-vis other tire makers in Poland and abroad, but also to widen range of tires with higher performance and consequently will provide its customers with the access to safe tires, increasing fuel savings and reducing noise emission.
In addition to strictly business activities Tire Company Debica S.A. has assisted the most needy for years now. Consequently it was possible, among others, to organize vacation trips for the charges of charitable institutions, to create proper development and educational environment for them, to adapt a vehicle transporting commuting handicapped persons on wheelchairs to therapeutic classes or to purchase computer equipment.
The Company also supports rescue services that take care for the safety of Debica city dwellers providing the former with tires for their vehicles or purchasing equipment. To enable Debica city dwellers to be able, under circumstances where time is crucial, to provide first aid on their own the Company equipped local schools with specialist manikins for learning first aid principles. One of major social events organized and financed by Tire Company Debica S.A. is the annual “Debica for Debica” Folk Festivities. In addition to artistic and integrative dimensions, it plays also a charitable role.
The list of the “Pillars of the Polish Economy” is another list on which Tire Company Debica S.A. was classified in the last couple of months. In the ranking of top exporters drawn up by the “Rzeczpospolita” daily Tire Company Debica S.A. was ranked amongst 30 top Polish exporters. The strengthening position of the Company on a nation-wide basis is also evidenced by the findings of analysis of “500 Top Businesses” List of the “Rzeczpospolita” daily. Tire Company Debica S.A. came on 37th place in the category of exports share in total sales.
