The finalists of the ”Dębica for Dębica” Young Bands’ Review called ”Sound Skirmish in Dębica” are already known. Out of 25 bands from the overall Subcarpathian region that applied for participation in the contest, jury selected eight bands that will give live performance during concert to be held on 20 August this year. The following young bands will perform at the stage of the Community Center of Tire Company Dębica S.A., Black Chasm (Lubaczów), Cohors Praetoria (Rzeszów), Jackknife (Stalowa Wola), Joke (Przemyśl/Żurawica), OSC (Dydnia), Pan Trup (Stalowa Wola), Pigs Like Pigeons (Przemyśl), Via Rei (Tarnobrzeg). In addition to finalists during the same concert the performance will be also given by a representative of the Dębica music stage – a band called Illuminand that combines remarkable, tuneful metal music with the tone of cello and violin.

The Dębica population will be able to watch the performance of leading independent bands from the region, playing a myriad of music varieties: starting with reggae, through punk and hard rock, ending up with tunes inspired by jazz. Top three bands will receive cash awards amounting to PLN 2500, PLN 1500 and PLN 1000.The top three bands will give stage performance on 29 August this year during 13th Dębica for Dębica Festivities.

The bands were selected by a jury consisting of the music journalists: Leszek Gnoiński, Tomasz Buszewski and Tomasz Radziszewski, a guitar player of the Świetliki band. They will also play a pivotal role in selecting the winners.

“It was not an easy choice, because most of the bands participating in the contest presented very high performance level. We gave preference to variety, an idea for music, spontaneity and enjoyable playing. The performers thinking about music using cliché and in imitative manner did not have a chance. We did not take into consideration band history, place of foundation, distinctions or achievements to date – only music counted. Only what we heard was crucial. Therefore we hope that on 20 August we will witness an extremely interesting concert in Dębica. The more that music styles of invited bands are quite varied and everybody should find his or her favorite piece of music” – said Leszek Gnoiński, the Jury Chairman.
”Young Bands’ Review may be an important experience for its participants and another step towards establishing presence in the music market. I am certain that we will hear a lot of news about several of them. I am also happy that we will be able to show to the Dębica audience new, interesting and most importantly good music” – added Leszek Gnoiński.

Those who miss the final concert on 20 August this year, will be still able to see the performance of the Young Bands’ Review winners traditionally on the last weekend of summer vacation during 13th Dębica for Dębica Festivities. The first band will start its performance already at 4.30 p.m., to be followed by two other bands playing at 5.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m., and the highlight of the night will be the concert of De Mono band that will begin at 8.00 p.m. Except for attractions for the adults, the fun will begin, as always, for children first. Already at 3 p.m. the stage performance will be given by Mr. Tick-Tock to be followed by contests and competitions, The overall Festivities will be crowned by a spectacular fireworks display.

“Each year we do our best to refresh the format of Festivities and in addition to proven attractions to propose something new to Dębica city dwellers. I hope that an idea of young bands’ review will be well received and that in subsequent years the number of participating bands will be even higher including bands not only from the Subcarpathian region, but primarily from the City of Dębica.
