Once Again T.C. Debica Supports ChildrenÔÇÖs University of Technology
On Saturday, 24 October this year, the first lecture during fourth semester was held at the Children’s University of Technology at Debica. The project aroused a lot of interest: Almost 400 children from the Debica county, falling into 6 -12 age category enrolled for the course. 250 children selected in a draw will take advantage of course. The project is organized by the Education Support Foundation reporting to the Aviation Valley Association. Once again part financing was provided by Tire Company Debica and Goodyear Dunlop Tires Polska. In total 1000 children participated in all editions of the Children’s University of Technology supported so far by Goodyear Polska Group.<br />
Free-of-charge lectures are held once a month at the Snowy White Community Center at ul. Bojanowskiego 18, at Debica.

All classes, exercises and laboratory test were specially designed so that every child understands and remembers as much as possible. The priority of the Children’s University of Technology is development of already existing interests of children and inspiring them to search for new ones. The following classes could be useful here:
* “Fun with Physics” (24 October) – during physics classes children will learn how to make fascinating experiments using everyday objects;
* “Why the opposites attract?” (21 November) – the young students will learn why the planets rotate around the Sun rather than migrating towards the Sun;
* “Luminescence in a Nutshell” (19 December) – with their own eyes young students will learn why and what can shine, which means that they will learn luminescence rudiments;
* “Is Mars inhabited by the Martians?” (23 January) – during these classes The Aviators’ Student Club will share their knowledge with children about the Mars and how it looks like, why and how it is explored and an explanation will be offered about the origin of its name “Red Planet”;
* “Do all animals salivate?” (13 February) – during these classes children will learn, among others, why cow produces as much as 150 litres of saliva, whereas dolphin does not have any saliva at all.

“The classes organised by the Children’s University of Technology are the example how to make of a virtue out of necessity i.e. how to educate through fun. “We are proud that once again we can be a partner of the Children’s University of Technology. Attending the sciences classes is an opportunity for children to deepen their knowledge and to get interested in the topic. Perhaps the classes will create an opportunity for getting to know more deeply the innovative technologies, which will probably bring tangible results in the future” – said Stanislaw Cieszkowski, the President of the Management Board of T.C. In this semester, on the top of lectures, laboratory classes will be launched for 15-person groups at the Debica secondary schools:
“Experiment – Have Fun With Physics and Chemistry", run by Slawomir Surowiec at “Jan Twardowski” Second Secondary Comprehensive School.
“Pneumatics and Electropneumatics Workshop", run by Paweł Jarosz from the John Paul II Vocational School Complex No. 1,
“Magic World of Physics", run by Wojciech Cebula from the E. Kwiatkowski School complex No. 2.

“Thanks to the financial support of Tire Company Debica and Goodyear Dunlop Tires Polska a lot of children will be offered a unique opportunity for development and will be inspired to deepen their knowledge. The investment into children education is the best gift we can offer. I do believe that this will be beneficial not only for children, but also for us the adults. We have already first examples that our activities give results, perhaps not in the community of the Children’s University of Technology graduates, but among our volunteers and participants of other projects run by us. Many of them decided to attend technical faculties at universities. We can also boast of a future military pilot who lives at Debica at everyday basis” – said Lukasz Szuba, the Director of the Education Support Foundation reporting to the Aviation Valley Association.

Tire Company Debica S.A. supports willingly projects targeted at children and the youth. In addition to funding another semester of education at the Children’s University of Technology, recently the Company has provided part financing of the school starter kits for the Debica first formers under the “Safe School to School” campaign, and for elementary education teachers – in collaboration with the Center for Citizenship Education (CCE) – drafted safety lesson plans to help teachers to bring variety to the their road traffic classes.
