Dębica, 10 July 2008 – The renovated children’s playground in Głowackiego Street in Dębica has been officially opened today. Thanks to financial support from Tire Company Dębica S.A. children have another reason to be happy during the summer holidays. This is one of the numerous joint undertakings between the City Hall and Tire Company Dębica S.A. on the occasion of the celebration of the 650th anniversary of the town on the Wisłoka river. “Jointly with the City Hall of Dębica, it is with great satisfaction that we are opening the renovated children’s playground. Summertime is exceptionally suitable for outdoor physical activity, so I am happy that from today onwards children will have another safe site to play in,” said Marta Konopacka, the Communications Director of Tire Company Dębica S.A.

The colorful playground has not only swings and slides, but also a merry-go-round and a sandbox. Additionally, the youngsters may try their skills on the climbing wall or moving platform. They can also slide down a line suspended between trees and board a cable-car. All the equipment meets the highest safety standards, and the entire playground is fenced in, so the youngsters can play without any worries. Their guardians will also find a convenient place to rest, on the newly-installed benches.

“I do believe that, thanks to the attractive equipment installed, the new playground in Głowackiego Street will thrive with life from morning till night. Most importantly, the equipment funded by Tire Company Dębica S.A. has all the necessary safety certificates so that the parents may be confident of the safety of their kids. I hope that this playground will serve the children of Dębica for a long time to come,” said Paweł Wolicki, the Mayor of Dębica.

The renewal of the playground in Głowackiego Street is another gesture by Tire Company Dębica S.A. to the youngsters living in the city. Almost two years ago the Dębica-based tire maker donated funds for the construction of a brand new playground for kids from the Special Schools Complex, and in the year 2000 Tire Company Dębica S.A. donated a playground in the city park in Ignacego Lisa Street to the city. Recently in the city, leisure centers were opened for children and young people: the aforementioned playground in the municipal park in Ignacego Lisa Street, and in the Fredro housing estate, and the Skate Park was also built in Akademicka Street.

For years now Tire Company Dębica S.A. has been supporting social and educational activities. Amongst the organizations that have been provided with various aid is not only the City Council of Dębica, but, amongst others, the Special Schools Complex in Dębica, the “Hanka” Children’s Home, the Dębica Home Hospice, the “Promyki nadziei [Rays of Hope]” Childcare and Educational Facility, the “Radość [Joy]” Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled, the Subcarpathian branch of the Polish Association of the Blind and the Municipal Social Welfare Center in Dębica. Tire Company Dębica S.A. also supports the rescue services, such as the fire brigade, the police and the emergency ambulance services in Dębica, and in the Subcarpathian region and elsewhere (e.g. the Mountain Rescue Service).

Through cash donations (in the last five years the total amount exceeded PLN 3.5 million) and non-cash donations (including, but not limited to, tires) Tire Company Dębica S.A. has extended care for the growing number of disabled and disadvantaged. It provides support to the organization of integration trips, meetings and workshops. It also supports the able-bodied youth by funding scholarships, as well as by funding educational activities such as teaching them how to give first aid.
