At the 12th “Dębica for Dębica” Folk Festivity the bands KOMBII and Pudelsi will stage shows. The musicians will play at the Dębica Folk Festivity on 30th August this year in the Wisłoka Sports Club stadium at the invitation of Folk Festivity’s organizers, i.e. Tire Company Dębica S.A. and Goodyear Dunlop Tires Polska. Pudelsi’s concert is scheduled for 6.00 p.m., whereas KOMBII will play at 8.00 p.m. The Folk Festivity will start at 2.00 p.m.
KOMBII rose to fame for the first time in the 1980s when the band, playing at that time under the name KOMBI, recorded such hits as „Kings of Life”, „Our Rendezvous”, or „Have a Sweet and Nice Life”. Under a slightly modified name, namely KOMBII, the band was refunded in 2003. Their first record “c.d.” received a double platinum award, reaching sales of 150,000 copies. Recently, KOMBII also triumphed at the ‘Top Trends Music Festival’, winning the first position in TOPs, and at the Opole Polish Song Festival where it won the “Superjedynka” award for the best pop album of the year. The reactivated band decided not only to arrange their old hits anew, but presented brand new tracks that also became hits such as “Generation”. The pop-rock style of KOMBII is received very enthusiastically by audiences of all ages. KOMBII and its charismatic leader Grzegorz Skawiński are famous for their extremely spectacular concerts, and excellent rapport with the audience. In Dębica on Saturday 30th August this year they will play both their golden oldie hits and more recent ones from their last album called “Ślad [Trace]”, recorded in 2007.
Before KOMBII, at 6.00 p.m. at the Wisłok Sports Club’s stadium a legendary band called Pudelsi will performance. The band first appeared on Poland’s alternative scene in 1986, initially with Cracow’s artist Maciek Maleńczuk in their line-up. Thanks to the characteristic voice of Maleńczuk such tracks as “Dawna dziewczyno [Ex-girlfriend]”, “Szuwary [Rushes]” or “Czerwone Tango [Red Tango]” occupied the top positions of the hit charts for many weeks and are still remembered today by the audience. In 2005 Pudelsi came back with a new vocalist – Szymon Goldberg - an alternative musician from the city of Gdańsk. Last year the band, with the new line-up, recorded their first album entitled “Zen”, that refers in musical terms to the origins of Pudelsi . The new album was received enthusiastically by the audience at the “Przystanek Woodstock” Music Festival. The band is known for their effervescent performances, interesting lyrics and various styles. At their concert the audience may expect tracks both from their new album and older tracks from the “Psycho-pop” or “Freedom of speech” albums.
The concerts by KOMBII and Pudelsi will not be the only attractions at this year’s Folk Festivity. Traditionally, the beginning of the Festivity belongs to the children. At 3.15 p.m. a stage performance will be given by the singer Majka Jeżowska. She will be followed by performances by Subcarpathian children’s and youth groups, numerous competitions, and the crowning event - a fireworks display.
Like last year , just in front of the stage there will be a special area arranged for the disabled, so they will be able to admire up close the performances of the Folk Festivity’s stars in comfort. In addition to the musical attractions, safety will be the focus of this year’s Folk Festivity. From moment it was founded Goodyear, a partner in this year’s Folk Festivity, has been associated with safety. In the Wisłoka Sports Club’s stadium a “safety town” will be organized where the attractions for the Folk Festivity visitors will be staged by the police, fire brigade and emergency ambulance services from Dębica, and also by the Provincial Driving Training Site from Rzeszów. The admission to the Folk Festivity is free.
“Similarly to previous years, we would also like to assure everyone that this year’s “Dębica for Dębica” Folk Festivity will offer a wonderful opportunity for all residents of Dębica and of the Subcarpathian region, both children and adults, to meet and have fun with music in the background . I do believe that both KOMBII and Pudelsi are bands that will satisfy the musical tastes of the public at the Folk Festivity. I cordially invite everybody to bid a joint farewell to the passing summer. As always the attractions will be plentiful,” said Marta Konopacka, Communications Director of Tire Company Dębica S.A.
The “Dębica for Dębica” Folk Festivity is organized on an annual basis by Tire Company Dębica S.A. The first Folk Festivity was held in 1996. Since then, shows have been given in Dębica by such megastars as Perfect, Maanam, Budka Suflera, Lady Pank, Myslovitz and Bajm.
