Head of Goodyear Visits Dębica

The new CEO of Goodyear, Richard J. Kramer, visits TC Dębica

Richard J. Kramer, CEO and President of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, visited TC Debica S.A. yesterday. This was the first visit of the new head of Goodyear to Poland, after his appointment to his position in April of this year.

Kramer’s visit to the factory is a part of his visit to Europe, having the objective of meeting with the corporation’s management and holding consultations on its strategy in this region. The agenda of the visit also included Firma Oponiarska Dębica S.A. – one of the largest tire factories in Europe and in the world, in which Goodyear is the majority stockholder.

Goodyear’s investments have contributed to the significant success which the factory in Dębica has achieved. Over almost 15 years of Goodyear’s presence as Dębica’s majority shareholder, the company has doubled production and has transformed from being a manufacturer of budget tires assigned for the domestic market to a leading manufacturer of high quality tires sold in many countries of Europe and the world, which has perfectly adapted to the needs and requirements of the global market. Today, tires produced in Debica are sold in 60 countries on six continents, including Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the USA and Brazil.

“I am very impressed with what I saw in Dębica. This is an excellently managed business with great opportunities and potential. Both technologically and organizationally, it is one of the best tire factories in the world, whereas it is an important partner for Goodyear in business terms. This is due to close cooperation the management with Goodyear Group, but primarily the involvement of all of the company’s employees and the excellent work they do, which I managed to see for myself,” said Kramer.

“We are pleased that we had the opportunity to show our strategic and the biggest business partner how T.C. Dębica S.A. looks and what changes have been made there in recent years. It is precisely largely due to Goodyear that we can boast about innovations which, at times of huge changes and increasing competition on the market, mean that – because of both technological innovativeness and employees who are open to change – we are the leader of the tire market in Poland,” said Jacek Pryczek, President of T.C. Dębica S.A.

Over the past 15 years of cooperation, Goodyear always emphasized its commitment to the long-term value and stability of Firma Oponiarska Dębica S.A. The factory is continuing to invest in modernization and expansion. A large amount of investment work is being conducted at the Company in the area of environmental protection and occupational safety, with particular emphasis on ergonomics and the reduction of arduousness of the production process.

Firma Oponiarska Dębica S.A. and Goodyear is not only the largest employer in the county, but also involves itself in cultural and social initiatives which are important to the inhabitants of Dębica and Podkarpacie. More than PLN 3.5 M was assigned to these in the last five years.
