A jubilee of Tire Company Dębica S.A. - a leading tire maker in Poland
Dębica, 4 April 2009 - Exactly 70 years ago The Traction Tire Plant was established in Dębica and today it is operated under the name of Tire Company Dębica S.A. After seven decades of development it enjoys not only the status of top tire maker in Poland, but is also an export leader in the overall Subcarpathian region. For the City of Dębica and environs, since its origins the Company has been the major patron of social and charitable initiatives and an organizer of cultural and sports life of the City.
The history of Dębica tire plant is at the same time the history of the tire industry in Poland. When on 4 April 1939 then Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski was performing grand commissioning of the Dębica plant hardly anybody supposed that a plant with a headcount less than 300 people at the time, would turn into such a large and significant player in the Polish automotive business. It was Dębica plant that started to make synthetic rubber tires, then also here in 1970s the first radial-ply tires were designed and their production on a mass scale was launched. Subsequent generations of engineers and designers from Dębica made a large contribution to the development of the Polish tire business.
The development of Company in the last couple of years and its excellent performance has been a result of an investment plan adopted by T.C. Dębica S.A. involving the upgrading, expansion and adaptation of manufacturing lines for making tires in the most profitable market segments i.e. high- and ultra high-performance passenger tires.
The strength of Tire Company Dębica S.A. is its reputation and trust in the Dębica tires that has been shown by the Polish and foreign drivers for decades now. This is confirmed by the lists where Dębica brand is ranked high each year. This year once again the Dębica tires turned out to be the best product in the annual ranking organized amongst the readers of "Reader's Digest" monthly magazine and won as much as 32.2% of votes cast. In December 2008 in the Ranking of Most Valuable Polish Brands of the "Rzeczpospolita" daily, where the value of 330 domestic brands was appraised, Dębica came in high 24th position in the "brand strength" category. Dębica tires were also appreciated in a survey of the "Wprost" weekly and in the "Superbrands" competition. The Dębica plant has regularly won the ranking of the largest businesses in the Subcarpathian region.
At present Tire Company Dębica S.A. is the leader in the Polish market of passenger and commercial tires. Its headcount exceeds 2700 workers. It is not only the largest employer in the county, but is also taking active part in cultural and social initiatives key to the Dębica city dwellers. It supports regularly the disabled and non-governmental organizations and constantly supports educational establishments by funding scholarships for talented adolescents. In the last 5 years the Company spent on charity more than PLN 3 million.
