Dębica supports young hockey players

T.C. Dębica S.A. for Dębica Student Hockey Club

 T.C. Dębica S.A. has co-financed hockey equipment for the children and teenagers of the Dębica Student Hockey Club (UKH Dębica), who start to learn to play hockey at their hockey classes in 2014. The classes were created, among others, in the School Complex No. 1, Primary School No. 11 and Primary School No. 5 – it  is there that schoolchildren learn to play hockey as part of their physical education programme.

“We are impressed by the sports achievements of UKH Dębica and for this reason we have decided to support it financially This allows us to contribute to the active operations of the club”, said Stanisław Cieszkowski, President of the Management Board of T.C. Dębica S.A. “For many years, Tyre Company Dębica S.A. has been consistently engaged in projects in the area of culture, sport, education and support to the disabled, especially in the projects carried out in Dębica and in the Subcarpathia region, and for this particular reason we are among the benefactors of UKH Dębica”.

“With the cooperation between the Dębica Student Hockey Club and T.C. Dębica S.A. in support for opening of sports classes focused on ice hockey, it will be possible to build a strong hockey centre in our town. When you begin the sports education from the first grade of primary school, it is the guarantee that the player has received proper training: from the youngest age groups to senior groups. We welcome the interest in the youngest players of such a serious company. We hope that in the near future we will also find a sponsor for our flagship 1st league senior team”, said Marcin Hadowski, President of UHK Dębica.

The passion and determination of two former hockey players, Stanisław ─ćwik and Wiesław Ptaszek, and the commitment of the local community in Dębica made it possible to establish UKH Dębica in 1998. At the beginning, there were only 20 children; now, the club has 150 players in different age categories. And the numbers are growing all the time.

The first successes came after 2 years of operation of the club, when the Mini Hockey team won the tournament in Warszawa, and Michał Wiktor from Dębica was awarded the title of the best player of the competition. Since then, the club has been strengthening its position in the Polish hockey. It won the 2nd place in the East group of the 2nd League in the 2012/2013 season, the 6th place in the Central Poland Junior League Championships in the 2012/2013 season, and the 2nd place in the Ice Hockey 2nd League Championships in the 2013/2014 season.

UKH Dębica fishes out the most talented young people and enables them to develop their sporting careers. The members of the club include:
•    Bartosz Ciura – currently representing TH Unia Oświęcim; after leaving UKH Dębica, he joined the Sports Championship School in Sosnowiec; in 2010, he belonged to the Polish National Team at IIHF World U18 Championships Division I, Group B; the captain of the Polish National Team during 2011 IIHF World Championship Division IB; as a GKS Tychy player, bronze medal winner at the Polish Senior Championships in 2013;

For many years, T.C. Dębica S.A. has been committed to supporting social and educational activities, including those aimed at improving road safety. Due to the company’s support, students of all secondary schools in Dębica can learn how to provide medical first aid. The company provided specialised equipment for this purpose so that, in a few years’ time, the most young people from Dębica and the surrounding areas will know how to provide first aid. Moreover, the company offers assistance to the sick and disabled, supports talented young people, provides schools with financial support, as well as fire service, emergency medical service, and the police.

In June 2014, the company supported — for the fourth time in a row — the “Safe Way to School” campaign, organised by the Dębica Town Council. The campaign was directed to future first graders, who will begin their school in September; the objective was to teach them the principles of safe behaviour on the road and raise awareness of the dangers which they may face on their way to school. Each new student received a starter kit containing HV vests, a HV bag for shoes, reflecting triangles that can be attached to a schoolbag, and a colouring book promoting the principles of safe behaviour on the road.

T.C. Dębica S.A. is also the initiator of a great cultural project. The third free-admittance GOODFEST Festival of alternative and electronic music will take place on the last Saturday of August. The artists who will appear on the Dębica Stadium go beyond the general musical trends and guarantee new experience to all fans of music. This year’s festival will feature BRODKA, Kaliber 44, Dawid Podsiadło, KAMP!, BOKKA, Fismoll, Stara Rzeka, and Rebeka. The partners of the 2014 GOODFEST Festival are: the National Centre for Culture, Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Marshal’s Office of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, and the Dębica Town Council.
