Dębica, 14 August 2008 -- The “Dębica for Dębica” Folk Festivity 2008, organized for the twelfth time in a row by Tire Company Dębica S.A., and this year also by Goodyear Dunlop Tires Polska, traditionally represents an opportunity to provide assistance to the most needy people. This year the summer vacations of some children – charges of three social institutions - were partly financed. These included:

• “Hanka” Children’s Home that organized a trip to the Vistula Bay for its charges ;

• The "Nazareth" Day-Care Room in the Saint Jadwiga Parish in Dębica, whose charges spent their holidays in the Kołobrzeg sea resort.

• The Association for Aid for Disabled Children with Cerebral Palsy – the "I CAN" Integrative Club for Disabled Youth that once again organized a rehabilitation holiday for children in Jarosławiec on the Baltic coast.

Thanks to the funds (PLN 30,000) donated by Tire Company Dębica S.A., almost one hundred people including children and their carers enjoyed, or are still enjoying, summer holidays. Some of them we will be able to meet during the 12th “Dębica for Dębica” Folk Festivity where, on stage, during the official conclusion of the event, they will share their impressions of their summer vacations with us.

“Thanks to the support of Tire Company Dębica S.A. we can once again go on summer holidays with our charges. The organization of each journey is extremely difficult and costly for them, because, in most cases, they are in wheelchairs. On the other hand, this is the only chance to forget, at least for some time, about the hardships of everyday life. Most importantly, thanks to organization of such trips, we can make their dreams come true, but we can also improve their health,” said Marta Pawełko-Tokarz, the Chairperson of the “I CAN” Integrative Club for Disabled Youth.

Like last year, just in front of the stage there will be a special area designated for the disabled so that they can watch up close the performance of the Folk Festivity’s stars.

“We always try to extend a helping hand to needy people. For many of the children enjoying summer vacations, supported by Tire Company Dębica S.A. it was the first trip of this kind in their lives. I am happy that we have managed to make them smile. I hope that they will have fond memories of their vacations for a long time. I do believe that during subsequent Folk Festivities we will manage to help a lot of needy people, with the support of the population of the City of Dębica and the Subcarpathian region,” said Marta Konopacka, the Communications Director of Tire Company Dębica S.A.

The “Dębica for Dębica” Folk Festivity has traditionally been an opportunity for social initiatives. Last year thousands of Dębica residents voted in favor of artistic works created by the charges of the social organizations. For each vote cast Tire Company Dębica S.A. donated PLN 1.00 for charitable organizations, and they received a total amount exceeding PLN 30,000. The charity campaign organized during the “Dębica for Dębica” Folk Festivity in 2006 for the “Joy” Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled generated PLN 38,000 for its charges! The amount was not coincidental: Tire Company Dębica S.A. donated PLN 1.00 for the Association for each visitor at the Folk Festivity. Thanks to these funds, Occupational Therapy Workshops were opened in Bobrowa Wola.

The “Dębica for Dębica” Folk Festivity has been organized for the last 12 years, on an annual basis by Tire Company Dębica S.A. Each year the Folk Festivity is accompanied by various attractions. This year the attractions will include, but will be not limited to, concerts by the bands KOMBII and Pudelsi . In addition to the musical attractions, the most important item on the agenda of 12th Folk Festivity will be safety. Since its foundation Goodyear, a partner in this year’s Folk Festivity, has been associated with safety. In the Wisłoka Sports Club’s stadium a “safety town” will be organized where the attractions for the Folk Festivity visitors will be organized by the police, fire brigade and emergency ambulance services from Dębica, and also by the Voivodship Driving Training Site from Rzeszów.
