The “Debica for Debica” Folk Festivities, organized for fifteenth time by Tire Company Debica S.A. and Goodyear Dunlop Tires Polska, has traditionally been also an opportunity to help the needy. This year a competition was prepared to create the most interesting informational poster concerned with road safety and safe travelling. Everybody is the winner in this competition, because each social organization will be granted a financial prize and its level will depend on the grade given to the poster participating in the competition.

The following social organizations will participate in the competition:
•    “Hanka” Children’s Home;  
•    "Nazareth" Educational After-School Club at Saint Jadwiga Parish at Debica;
•    Association for the Assistance of the Disabled with Infantile Cerebral Palsy - “I CAN” Integrative Group of the Disabled Youth;
•    “Joy” Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled

Each of the social organizations will have a job to prepare several proposals of posters propagating road safety and safe driving. Special Committee comprising the representatives of Tire Company Debica S.A., Debica Art Gallery, and representatives of the Debica Municipal Council will select four best posters i.e. one best poster sent in by each social organization. All social organizations will be donated financial grants by the Tire Company Debica S.A.. The level of grants will depend on the grade given by the Special Committee for their posters. The Special Committee decision will be announced on 27th August this year during the evening part of the Festivities.

The social organization that prepared a poster that will come on the first place will receive a financial prize of PLN 15 thousand, the runner-up social organization will receive PLN 12 thousand, third social organization will receive PLN 9 thousand and the forth one – PLN 7 thousand. All posters will be displayed on the Festivities day at the Gallery of the Municipal Community Center at Debica.

To give the charges of social organizations a clue how to prepare posters, in July Tire Company Debica S.A. organized for them an artistic workshop jointly with the Debica Art Gallery under the subject matter supervision of the Art Gallery Director Mr. Ryszard Kucab. The Artistic Workshop was held at the Art Gallery and comprised theoretical and practical classes. During classes the Art Gallery workers demonstrated various artistic techniques that could be applied to create the poster and they also showed exemplary posters of leading Polish and foreign artists.  

„At the Art Gallery of the Municipal Community Center at Debica the artistic workshop was held for four groups participating in the competition for the poster promoting road safety. The workshop comprised theoretical and practical classes. The participants learnt about poster history, they had an opportunity to see several dozen posters created by widely recognized Polish artists, the creators of the Polish "poster school". They also learnt about the means of artistic expression, technical opportunities during the poster execution and effectiveness of poster impact following the principle: minimum means, maximum expression. During the practical classes the first projects were created. All workshop participants were deeply committed to creation of own, individual expression of the topic, in the most interesting manner. I was nicely surprised by several ideas. Now all we can do is to wait for the finished posters” – said Ryszard Kucab, Director of Art Gallery of the Municipal Community Center at Debica.

„For many years now we have attempted to help the most needy. Thanks to such approach it was possible, among others, to organize vacation trips for the charges of the charitable organizations, to create for them proper conditions for development and learning, to adapt the vehicle transporting the disabled in wheelchairs to therapeutical classes or to purchase computer hardware. We also support rescue services that take care for the safety of Debica city dwellers. We provide the former with tires for their vehicles or we purchase equipment. We are also keen of Debica city dwellers to be able, under circumstances where time is crucial, to provide first aid on their own. Therefore we equip local schools with specialist manikins for learning first aid principles to train the youngest Debica city dwellers in this area. I do believe that thanks to this year’s Debica for Debica Festivities our help allows to meet the most urgent needs” – said Marta Konopacka, Communication Director at Tire Company Debica S.A.

The ”Debica for Debica” Festivities is an annual event that has already been organized for 15 years now by Tire Company Debica S.A. and Goodyear Dunlop Tires Polska. Each year the Festivities is accompanied by various attractions. This year they will include, among others, concerts given by Myslovitz and Vavamuffin bands. In addition to music attractions road safety will be crucial at 15th Debica for Debica Festivities. On 27th August this year a special safety park will be created at the Debica old town market square, where everyone interested will be able to experience himself in special trainers – car overturn, collision, and also to test how alcohol and external circumstances affect the response time of the driver. In its turn the Rzeszow-based Provincial Road Traffic Center will build a mini road traffic training ground, rendering faithfully actual road conditions, where young cyclists – under a professional eye of policemen – will be able to prove their skills. There will plenty of competitions and entertainment, so nobody is going to be bored.

Like in the previous years, at the foot of the stage a special section for the disabled will be created in the evening. Consequently they will be able to admire the performance of Festivities’ stars in comfort.
