The Folk Festivities create also excellent opportunity to draw attention to the needy and to show various ways of providing assistance to them. T.C. Dębica S.A., for instance, at the foot of the stage always prepares very carefully a special section for the disabled. Consequently they are able to admire the performance of Festivities’ stars in comfort.

Last year the 13th Dębica for Dębica Folk Festivities were accompanied by a photographic workshop sponsored by T.C. Dębica S.A. The overall initiative was targeted at the disabled and the disadvantaged children. Almost 30 charges of three Dębica organizations supporting the needy i.e. „Joy” the Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled, Association Helping Disabled Children With Cerebral Palsy, “I CAN” Association for the Integration of Disabled Youth, and the „Nazareth” Care and Educational Center participated in the photographic workshop. The workshop was held under the patronage of the Polish Association of Art Photographers.

At photographic workshops the children and youth could not only learn the rudiments of photography and history of photographic techniques, to take a closer look at darkroom, but also to shoot in pictures in outdoor locations documenting contemporary city of Dębica. That is how the „Dębica Yesterday and Today” photo exhibition was created. The Debica city dwellers could see the photo exhibition in the first week of September 2009 at the stadium during the Folk Festivities, and in the Dębica market square afterwards. Thanks to this event it was possible to show a piece of old Dębica and transformations it was subject to over decades, which is of special importance due to 70th anniversary of Tire Company Dębica S.A. celebrated in 2009.

Also on the occasion of “Dębica for Dębica” Folk Festivities in 2009 T.C. Dębica S.A. organized ”Sound Skirmish in Dębica” Young Bands’ Review. The Review was targeted at all non-professional bands from the Subcarpathian region and it was held in two phases. First jury screened all participating bands by listening to their music, and then the short-listed  bands competed during live concert, with free attendance for all Dębica dwellers. For the best bands Tire Company Dębica S.A. funded 3 cash prizes and an opportunity to give performance to Dębica audience during Folk Festivities.

Tire Company Dębica S.A. also supports actively the education of young freaks of electrical and power engineering. In March 2009 it was the main sponsor of 32nd National Electrical and Power Engineering Contest that was held at the E. Kwiatkowski School Complex No. 2 at Dębica. The Contest aimed at stirring interest in electrical and power engineering in the population of secondary technical college students, to enhance the level of their technical culture, and to provide a platform for knowledge sharing and for experience exchange. For the Contest winners who scored the highest number of points T.C. Dębica S.A. funded laptops as prizes.

Bearing in mind permanent relationship with the School Complex No. 2 also in the school year 2009/2010 Tire Company Dębica S.A. extended its patronage to cover forms educating electronic and electrical engineers. Social Activities of Tire Company Dębica S.A. in previous years

Organizations and institutions that were supported by Tire Company Dębica S.A. :
  • The "Radość" Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled in Dębica. The Association takes care of 140 people, coming from the city and municipality of Dębica, the Żyraków municipality, and partially from the Czarna municipality. Everyday, the occupational therapy workshops are attended by 65 people. During the workshops the disabled learn to be self-reliant, resourceful as well as learning straightforward occupational activities. Under the supervision of the occupational therapy instructors, the disabled learn new manual skills, how to make various objects, such as clay or wooden products (for example furniture). The Association also runs IT, technical and desktop publishing laboratories. The Association has public utility organization status.
  • The "Nazareth" Day-Care Room in the Roman Catholic Parish of Saint Jadwiga in Dębica. The children in the community center charge also have the assistance of teachers (they can do their homework under the supervision of a teacher); volunteers cook lunches so that the children can eat at least one hot meal a day. The community center is open Monday through Friday in the afternoon. Additionally, the kids are taken away for winter and summer holidays.

In 2007 the Company carried out the following activities for the benefit of the local community:

For many years now, Tire Company Dębica S.A. has supported the activities of social organizations (including, but not limited to, the aforementioned organizations, and additionally the Special Schools Complex in Dębica, the "Hanka" Children's Home, the Dębica Home Hospice, the "Promyki Nadziei" Childcare and Educational Facility, the "Joy" Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled, the Subcarpathian branch of the Polish Association of the Blind, the Municipal Social Welfare Center in Dębica and the rescue services (the fire brigade, the police, the emergency ambulance service) in the city of Dębica, and in the Subcarpathian region and elsewhere (e.g. support for the Mountain Rescue Service). Thanks to donations both in the form of financial means (in the last five years the donations have topped almost PLN 3.7 million), and non-cash donations (tires) it is possible to aid - including but not limited to non-cash aid, attendance at meetings, workshops and trips organized by the associations etc. - a growing number of people: the disabled, those living in hardship, those from disadvantaged areas, those requiring specialist medical or rehabilitation care etc. The support of Tire Company Dębica S.A. also covers the able-bodied youth (scholarships), as well as educational programs.

Measures for the local community undertaken by Tire Company Dębica S.A. in 2007:
  • Funds (approx. PLN 10,000 for each organization mentioned in item 7) were allocated for the statutory activities of the aforementioned organizations (during the annual "Dębica for Dębica" Folk Festivity).
  • The organization (once again) of an area for the disabled during the "Dębica for Dębica" Folk Festivity (so that they could admire the artists' shows up close), and transport for the disabled from Dębica and the neighboring municipalities to attend this event.
  • The donation of PLN 15,000 to the "Joy" Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled for the purchase of a 16 seater bus to transport the disabled. The bus allows the participants of the occupational therapy workshop in Bobrowa Wola to reach their rehabilitation activities safely and comfortably. Thanks to the support of Tire Company Dębica S.A. it was possible to cover, to a large extent, their own personal contribution of 15%, as required by the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled. The bus allows also the disabled to be brought, for example to the store, on excursions or to the cinema. Previously, the Association hired a bus from a third party and it was more expensive.
  • The donation of free sets of tires to the Voluntary Fire Brigade in Nagoszyn (near Dębica) and to the "Joy" Association.
  • A donation of PLN 2,000 to the Dębica-based John Paul II Home Hospice.
  • A three-year scholarship for Klaudia Szczupak attending Secondary School No 2 in Dębica for outstanding academic achievements.
  • Support for the Regional XXX Road Traffic Safety Tournament (for children and young people).

  • The donation of 300 Christmas parcels for children under the care of social organizations in Dębica.

Objectives achieved thanks to measures taken in the last year:On one hand, some very tangible results were recorded, e.g. the possibility to buy a bus adapted to carry the disabled, or gifts for children before Christmas, and on the other hand there were those with an educational nature. Tire Company Dębica S.A., when running social activities, has always born in mind the idea of propagating, as widely as possible, participation in the social life of the disabled, the sick and the disadvantaged. Tire Company Dębica S.A. pays special attention to children and young people, including those from disadvantaged social strata .
In 2007, thanks to support from Tire Company Dębica S.A., it was possible, amongst other things:

  • to facilitate the transport of the disabled in the care of the "Joy" Association to the occupational therapy workshop in Bobrowa Wola (the workshop was launched in 2007 also thanks to, amongst others, the financial donation made in 2006 by Tire Company Dębica S.A.) + to reduce transport costs, - to support the statutory activities of 3 social organizations (as listed in item 7) that received financial means,
  • to support the palliative care run by the Dębica Home Hospice,
  • to ensure driving safety for the emergency services (the fire brigade),
  • to support a young person from Dębica, having above-average academic achievements,
  • to encourage the disabled and their minders to participate in local artistic events (the "Dębica for Dębica" Folk Festivity in 2006 and 2007).

To support the disabled, the sick and the disadvantaged from Dębica and the Subcarpathian region, huge funds are necessary (the Subcarpathian region is one of the poorest regions, not only in Poland but, unfortunately, also in the European Union).
