Jubilee of Tire Company Dębica S.A.’s Breeding Ground for Fresh Talents
Dębica, 25.06.2010
60 years ago the State Primary Vocational School at Dębica Rubber Works was established. Its mission was the vocational preparation of future workers for the Dębica plant rebuilt after the World War II damage. Though both entities have different names today, Tire Company Dębica S.A. and the Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski School Complex No. 2 at Dębica, have been co-operating for years now, educating consecutive generations of young specialists.
The State Primary Vocational School at Dębica was established on 19 June 1950 pursuant to the Resolution of the Council of State of the Polish Peoples’ Republic, with the mission to „expand a network of vocational schools and to provide the socialist industry with qualified personnel”. The only branch of the School was established at the Dębica Rubber Works, and Jan Patyk was appointed to the position of its Headmaster. The School would provide a two-year vocational training. The entrance examinations were passed only by every second candidate, which is a proof of high interest in upgrading vocational qualifications by then population of Dębica. The first form had 45 students, and the classes were held at the Company’s day room.
In 1957, following a request of workers, Mechanical Technical College, Metal Primary Vocational School, Chemical Primary School and Technical College for Adults were merged into a single educational facility. In mid 1970s the School was renamed the Vocational School Complex of Dębica Tire Works, and in 1987 – in response to educational needs – the Electronic, Electrical and Power Engineering Technical College was opened. The turn of 20th century saw, inter alia, the foundation of integrated forms, the implementation of 3-year secondary comprehensive school and a 4-year technical college and renaming of the school into the Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski School Complex No. 2 at Dębica.
- The support to youth education is one of the pillars of social activities of our company – says Marta Konopacka, the Public Relations Director at Tire Company Dębica S.A. – We are proud that for many years now jointly with teachers from the Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski School Complex we have transferred, among others, during traineeships at TC Dębica S.A, our expertise to the young engineering enthusiasts. The alumni of the School Complex include numerous specialists who laid foundations for tire business in Poland. I hope that sizable group of current students will join Tire Company Dębica S.A. in the future.
At present the E. Kwiatkowski School Complex No. 2 has at its disposal modern lecture rooms and teaching personnel amounting to 80 people. Each year 360 students leave the School Complex in the following specialties: IT technician, electronic engineer and electric engineer. – This round anniversary is an opportunity to remind the origins of our school that are closely connected with the growth of tire business in the Subcarpathian Region at Dębica – says Joanna Dymitrowska, the Headmaster of School Complex No. 2. – I am happy throughout all those years our co-operation with Tire Company has developed on many planes and that we have been always able to count on T.C. Dębica S.A. support.
In the current school year the Tire Company Dębica S.A. extended its patronage over the forms with electronic and electrical engineering profiles at the School Complex No. 2. Their students undergo traineeships, performed at the Practical Training Centre under the leadership of Tire Company Dębica personnel. The examinations are taken using modern equipment purchased by Tire Company Dębica S.A. that also funded scholarships for the best students. Last year Dębica tire maker also supported the organizers of the National Contest in Electric and Electronic Engineering that was held at the popular “E. Kwiatkowski” School Complex. The Contest winners were given modern laptops funded by T.C. Dębica S.A..
